Here’s a great little beat that Chuck Silverman introduced to me. The “Samba De Angola” with a Baion ostinato on the bass drum. I love to warm up with this beat ~ it has the sweetest groove. Note that the accent on the bass drum is to be played with just a slit increase in volume to help push the back beat.

Mmmm …. doesn’t that feel good?

You can play the High Hat or the Bell. Remember to play the ghosting note as soft as you can. This will help to propel the groove. As an added variation you can play the ghosting notes on the High Hat while playing the Bell with the other hand. I’ve even played the ghosting notes on the toms.
