A few words on taking lessons

Several things come to mind in regards to learning. Mainly, that people learn in different ways. Some people learn better verbally and some visually while others may be logical or physical learners. Drumming alone covers several areas of learning almost simultaneously. The physical aspect of moving arms and legs that combines with the audible tone being produced from the striking of the drum along with the mathematics of counting and subdividing the tempo. While you are pursuing the perfect stroke or groove and whatever type of learner you may be don’t forget the main reason for drumming – IT’S FUN !

You can take your drumming to any level you want. Drumming can be a simple single note rhythm to the more complex polyrhythm (The use or an instance of simultaneous contrasting rhythms). To coin a phrase “it’s all good”.

So far in my drumming life I have studied one-on-one with (in chronological order) John Mehler , Henry Bellson , David Garibaldi , and Chuck Silverman . Each one has imparted their insight to drumming and I’m grateful to them. I hope that I will do the same for you. Remember – have fun!

Yours,

Mark "BoneS" Pryor
